How Tariff Complexity Is Draining Working Capital and Destabilizing Supply Chains
ECIA’s President and CEO, David Loftus, and the ECIA councils are sounding the alarm about a growing challenge in distribution channels across all industries, The damage being done by uncertainty and complexity arising from tariffs has created a difficulty that is certain to impact multiple industries in 2026, including electronic components.
“Distribution networks across American industry are facing a quiet but escalating issue,” the group writes in a letter sent to ECIA members.

EDS returns to Resorts World Las Vegas from May 18-22, 2026. Reservations for meeting space at EDS (Hotel Meeting Suites, Executive Meeting Rooms and space in Lily Ballroom) are now being taken on a first-come, first served basis. Registration for Attendees (Rep and Distributor companies without meeting space at EDS) will open sometime in the first weeks of January.

What is your involvement with ECIA and what have you gained from your engagement with the association?
I have the privilege of being part of the GIPC organization and recently was invited to join the Board of Directors. Vishay is proud to be a member of the ECIA and we appreciate the opportunity to discuss topics relevant to our industry, as professionals, who work with each other to support our customers and the business. There are a broad range of subjects that we are all interested in and the ECIA provides a forum for us to talk and share information that helps us with decisions that need to be made. The reports and information that are submitted to our company is valuable and it supports our needs on a global basis. Also, the ability to connect with peers who are in the same industry and have mutual objectives is a value for our company as well.
What does your company do and what is your role in your company?
Vishay is one of the world’s most trusted manufacturers of discrete semiconductors and passive components. I am the Sr. Vice President responsible for Customer Experience. In my role, I have the opportunity to work with all of our functional groups and colleagues all over the world to develop and support a variety of programs. Our goal is to provide our valued customers with the best experience in any interaction they have with VISHAY.
What is your favorite thing about this industry?
You are constantly learning every day …I’ve been with VISHAY my entire career and there are still new things to learn! The people that you meet all over the world, the opportunity to engage with customers that are sharing their projects/applications and being part of an industry that challenges you every year with different needs to support profitable business!
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I love the outdoors - gardening, hiking, spending time on the water with my friends and family!
Are you currently binging any shows on Netflix, Hulu etc.?
Well … no, I’m not!
